John Kennedy believes the return of creative spark Reo Hatate has given Celtic a huge boost ahead of Sunday’s showdown with title rivals Rangers.

The influential Japanese midfielder made his first appearance for the Hoops in three months when he started Sunday’s 3-0 win away to Livingston after being sidelined with a calf problem.

Hatate shone in West Lothian and was heavily involved in the opener – an own goal by Livi’s Jamie Brandon – as Celtic moved a point clear of Gers, who have a game in hand, ahead of Sunday’s mouth-watering top-of-the-table clash at Ibrox.

A UEFA working group made up of 10 European nations has stressed the need to support human rights at the Qatar World Cup.

The decision to stage the World Cup in Qatar has been widely criticised due to concerns over the country s human rights record, with the conditions of migrant workers and the criminalisation of homosexuality being highlighted.

Amnesty International later accused FIFA of brushing these concerns under the carpet after president Gianni Infantino and secretary general Fatma Samoura called on participating nations to focus on the football at the World Cup.

In a statement released on Sunday, the working group acknowledged what it perceives to be significant progress made by Qatar, though also insisted human rights issues cannot be ignored.

Former England boss Graham Taylor believes that Fabio Capello will make Steven Gerrard the national side s new captain.

The FA announced on Friday that John Terry had been stripped of the armband, as he awaits trial over charges of racial abuse, and Taylor admitted that he thought the correct decision had been made, adding that the Liverpool midfielder would be his choice if he returns to form.

Mojang has announced that it’s implementing a change in how it tackles free content updates for Minecraft going forward. In an update published on the game’s official website, the company has acknowledged fans’ demands for more frequent content drops, as a result of which it will be releasing multiple free content drops for the game throughout the year going forward.

Spain goalkeeper David de Gea has thanked his critics for motivating him on the back of his performance against Croatia in their final group game of Euro 2016 on Tuesday. 

Defending champions Spain went down 2-1 to Croatia, who sealed top spot in Group D in the process, in Bordeaux.

De Gea was criticised after Ivan Perisic s 87th-minute winner, which saw the Manchester United goalkeeper beaten at his near post after a slight deflection.

The loss meant Spain finished runners-up in the group and will face Italy in the round of 16 in a rematch of the 2012 final. 

But following a wave of negative comments directed at the 25-year-old, De Gea says the criticism only motivates him to become better.

Dirk Kuyt has called time on his Netherlands career after a decade representing the national team.

The Fenerbahce forward has proven a fine servant to Netherlands cause, earning 104 caps and scoring 24 goals.

Kuyt made his Netherlands debut under the stewardship of Marco van Basten in a 3-0 victory over Liechtenstein in September 2004 and last featured as recently as their 2-0 friendly defeat to Italy a month ago.

The 34-year-old explained that he made the decision after discussions with current coach Guus Hiddink, who could not promise Kuyt a prominent role in the team.
